This image started the series. My daughters were beginning to lose a bit of their youthfulness, and I wanted to capture a signature image that would communicate the love they had between them as sisters.
My daughter, Sara, was getting married in England, and so I purchased parasols and other objects from around 1820, to create a ‘Jane Austin’ effect that would reflect her wedding theme of ‘Pride and Prejudice.'
The book that Sara is holding is a 100-year-old copy of Pride and Prejudice. Lauren (in the green shawl) and Elayne (in the blue shawl) are leaning in as she reads to them about Mr. Darcy and “ first time that he told you that he loved you.”
My granddaughter Tyler is on the end, curiously peering in behind her Mom.
This image is a true marker of the preciousness of life. Elayne is in heaven today because she passed away soon after this shoot. This photo was the last that I ever took of her.
Cowley Manor is a gorgeous wedding venue in the Cotswolds of England and has a storied history. We loved holding my daughter's wedding here.
The original owner exchanged his land in London with Edward the Confessor so that the King could build Westminister Abbey.
It's funky and whimsical feeling naturally attracted Lewis Carroll who walked the gardens and grounds routinely.
No wonder he was inspired by it and used pieces as a texture in his best-known work, Alice in Wonderland.
